How to Be A Finisher

You may be asking, "What do you mean by being a finisher, Bess?"

In this context, we're talking about follow-through, truly finishing the things we set out to do, the big things, like our projects and goals, and the seemingly small things, like the daily tasks necessary to reach those goals and complete those projects. Especially when we know we are called to do them!

Why be a finisher?

Because we become frustrated & fragmented when we don't finish things!

When we don't finish things, we carry around a spirit of regret. And that affects everything else we do.

I personally confess that I have missed some good things in my life due to my lack of finishing things I've begun! But I won't walk around wasting time in guilt or shame about it, I'm forgiven! Now I'm excited to say I DO finish tasks and projects. I truly feel now that finishing is a COMMAND from God for what we're called to do!

Grace is the gift of redemption, so God DOES redeem our time - time we lost when we didn't follow through or complete what He's told us to do. However, it's not permission to continue behaviors that cause the lack of finishing! So we have to consciously work to change our mindset of "self-permission" or giving ourselves the freedom to be distracted or off-focus from our tasks!

We want to become FINISHERS so that we don't "hinder our greater thing to come" as I explain on this video...

How being a finisher changes YOU!

“So here’s what I think: The best thing you can do right now is to finish what you started last year and not let those good intentions grow stale. Your heart’s been in the right place all along. You’ve got what it takes to finish it up, so go to it. Once the commitment is clear, you do what you can, not what you can’t. The heart regulates the hands. This isn’t so others can take it easy while you sweat it out. No, you’re shoulder to shoulder with them all the way, your surplus matching their deficit, their surplus matching your deficit. In the end you come out even. As it is written, Nothing left over to the one with the most, Nothing lacking to the one with the least.”

~  2 Corinthians 8:10-16 The Message (MSG)

When you finish what you've committed to - it brings you to a place of deep personal satisfaction!

There will be NO regrets when you finish! It allows you to leave the RESULTS of your efforts in God hands, because, when we do our part, He honors our efforts!
